Зеленский представил первые шаги к миру в Европейском совете
Ukraine offers «necessary steps to establish peace» and is ready to take them. About this at the meeting of the European Council on March 6 stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
According to the Ukrainian president, several steps need to be taken to achieve peace.
«Everyone must make sure that Russia, as the only source of this war, recognizes the need to end it. This can be proven by two types of silence that are easy to establish and control, namely: the absence of attacks on energy and other civilian infrastructure, i.e. a truce on the use of missiles, bombs and long-range drones, and the second — a truce on the water, i.e. the cessation of military operations in the Black Sea.», — noted Zelenskyi.
The President of Ukraine noted that the next step is to establish «basic trust in the terms of the negotiations», that is, confidence that the Russians are not misleading. In his opinion, one of the ways to strengthen this trust can be the release of prisoners.
«And it must be based on the understanding that any truce and any form of confidence-building measures can only be a prologue to a full and just settlement, to a comprehensive agreement on security guarantees and an end to the war.» — he emphasized.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will openly share all details of peace plans and negotiations with Europe. He noted that every country that supports Ukraine should take part in the process of achieving peace.
