17% of profit: retail leaders in Ukraine break records amid war and crisis

The aggregate income of the largest Ukrainian retailers in 2024 increased by an impressive 17% and reached a record 529.24 billion hryvnias. For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, none of the companies that entered the top 10 of the Index Opendatabot 2025, did not record losses. On the contrary, the leaders of Ukrainian retail turned a net profit, earning a total of 9.82 billion hryvnias in profit. This is the most powerful financial breakthrough of the market during all the years of the war, which shows that despite the front and the crisis, big business in Ukraine did not just survive – it is rapidly getting rich.
208.9 billion hryvnias was earned by ATB-market, the unchanging leader of Ukrainian retail
For the third year in a row, ATB-market holds the first position in terms of revenue. Over the year, the network increased the indicator by 15%, reaching 208.9 billion hryvnias, which is 39.5% of the combined income of all market leaders. In terms of profit, the company took second place — 3.1 billion hryvnias, or 32% of the total amount. ATB emphasized that in 2024 more than 28.61 billion hryvnias of taxes and fees were paid, exceeding the indicators of the previous year by 4 billion hryvnias.
4.08 billion hryvnias of profit is a record for Aurora, which has become the leader in terms of earnings
The absolute record holder in terms of profit was the company Vigydna kulcha / Aurora, which changed the type of activity from wholesale to retail trade. Its net profit amounted to 4.08 billion hryvnias, and the income increased by 1.4 times, reaching 37.9 billion hryvnias. In 2024, the company opened more than 300 new stores, creating almost 3,000 jobs. The total number of outlets reached 1,615 in Ukraine and 30 in Romania.
93 billion hryvnias of revenue and the first profit in three years is Silpo’s breakthrough. The Silpo-Food / Silpo network took the second place in terms of revenue, which earned 93 billion hryvnias, increasing the figure by 10%. For the first time in three years, the network came out of the red — the profit amounted to 205 million hryvnias.
Fora’s profit increased 5 times — 123.5 million hryvnias. The Fora network showed a 19% increase in revenue to 34.9 billion hryvnias. The profit increased more than 5 times – to 123.5 million hryvnias, but this was not enough to stay in the top 3: the company fell to fourth place.
Rozetka rose to the 5th place with an income of 29.7 billion hryvnias. The online giant Rozetka increased its revenue by 17% to 29.7 billion hryvnias, thanks to which it rose from the seventh to the fifth position in the rating.
23% growth at NOVUS — revenue is almost 29 billion hryvnias. The Novus Ukraine network / NOVUS increased its revenue to 29 billion hryvnias (+23%) and received 561 million hryvnias in profit. The company emphasized that more than 98% of the products of its own brands are produced in Ukraine, and in general, Ukrainian products make up more than 70% of the assortment.
Metro’s 12.5% gain is a profit after two years of losses. Metro Cash and Carry Ukraine / Metro increased its revenue to 28.7 billion hryvnias (+12.5%) and recorded a profit of 178 million hryvnias for the first time since the war, although in the previous two years it had losses of more than 400 million hryvnias.
EVA, Varus and Big Pocket are also in the top 10, but with falling earnings
The top ten leaders also included:
- RUSH / EVA — 26.9 billion hryvnias of revenue (+28%), profit of 1.4 billion hryvnias (down 1.6 times);
- Omega / Varus — 20 billion hryvnias in revenue (+14%), profit 38.2 million hryvnias (down more than 5 times);
- Food Committee / Velyka Kyshenya — 19.9 billion hryvnias in revenue (+16%), profit 116.6 million hryvnias (down 2.6 times).
Rating sensation — Epicenter and Comfy dropped from the Index due to lack of reporting. Comfy was dropped from the rating for the first time, and Epicenter K / Epicenter did not appear for the second time in a row – both companies did not submit annual reports and were not included in the final list.
Thus, the Opendatabot Index 2025 recorded the historic growth of the retail trade market in Ukraine even against the background of the war — for the first time a break-even top ten and record profits.
