27 people, 25 of them children, killed in Bangladesh military plane crash into school (video)

A training plane of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed on the territory of a school campus in the country’s capital Dhaka. The number of people killed as a result of the incident is currently 27 people, including 25 children. About this informsFrance24.
“So far 27 people have died. Among them are 25 children and the pilot”, said Sayedur Rahman, a representative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to available information, most of the dead were students — they had just left their classrooms in the yard when a Chinese-made F-7 BJI plane fell on the territory of the school. 78 victims are in hospitals. According to the military, who are conducting the investigation, the total number of injured people as a result of the disaster exceeds 170 people.
“The BGI F-7 aircraft took off at 13:06 from the Bangladesh Air Force Base in Kurmitol (Dhaka) on a scheduled training mission but experienced a mechanical failure,”– explained Lt. Col. Sami Ud Doula Chowdhury.
Despite the pilot’s efforts to steer the plane away from densely built-up areas, it still crashed into a two-storey building belonging to Milestone School and College. The pilot died on the spot. The investigation into the cause of the accident is currently ongoing. The specified F-7 BGI aircraft is the most modern modification of the Chinese Chengdu J-7/F-7 series, a licensed version of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter. In 2011, Bangladesh signed a contract for the purchase of 16 such aircraft.
