75 Ukrainians were released from captivity: among them military personnel, national guardsmen, border guards and civilians

Today, May 31, another exchange of prisoners took place between Ukraine and Russia. Thanks to the joint efforts and hard work of the relevant authorities, 75 Ukrainian citizens returned home, including 70 men and 5 women.

All this time, we did not stop working for a single day to bring home each and every one of the Russian captives. And today we have an important result: another 75 of our people have returned to Ukraine. Soldiers of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, border guards, four civilians – all of them are already on their native land. We remember everyone. We make every effort to find each and every one. Thanks to the exchange team,” — the head of state wrote.

Among the dismissed are representatives of various branches of the military and security forces:

  •  Military servicemen who defended Ukraine at different areas of the front.
  • National Guard of Ukraine: soldiers who performed the tasks of protecting public order and defense of the country.
  • State Border Service of Ukraine: border guards who protected the borders of Ukraine from the soldiers of the Russian Federation
  • Civilians.

Some of those released have injuries, serious illnesses or disabilities sustained while in captivity. They need immediate medical care and rehabilitation.

Freed Ukrainians were captured by the Russian Federation in various regions of Ukraine, in particular in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Sumy areas. Among them are also defenders of Zmiiny Island, Chornobyl NPP, and Mariupol.

It is noted that this exchange of prisoners was another step on the way to the return of all Ukrainian citizens illegally held by Russia.
