Long recovery and preparation: Usyk’s manager named the approximate timing of his return to the ring

The manager of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, Egis Klimas, told the publication Boxing Scene, that the next fight of the world boxing champion will take place in the second half of 2025. Usyk had two 12-round fights during 2024 against Tyson Fury, in which he won by decision. The first fight allowed him to unify all the heavyweight titles, and the second, in December, was a successful defense of three belts.

Klimas noted that Alexander will start training around April 2025, and recovery and preparation for the next fight will take a long time. This matchup is expected to take place at the end of the summer. The manager explained that after two grueling fights with Fury, Usyk needed time to recover, because each of those fights lasted the full 12 rounds.

Usyk has several options for continuing his career. Among them is a possible fight with the British Daniel Dubois, whom the Ukrainian already defeated by knockout in August 2023, or a return to cruiserweight, which he mentioned before the rematch with Fury.

However, Klimas is in no rush to discuss a rematch with DuBois. According to him, the Brit first needs to win against Joseph Parker, with whom he will meet on February 22 in a fight for the IBF super heavyweight title. The manager noted that only after this fight will it be possible to talk about a possible rematch with Usyk.

Usyk’s promoter, Oleksandr Krasiuk, also supports the idea of a fight with Dubois, because he owns the IBF belt, which was transferred to him after previous victories. In September 2024, Dubois defended his championship by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round, making him another possible opponent for Usyk.
