A bridge and a new checkpoint will be built on the Tisza River

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved an agreement with the Romanian government on the construction of a bridge across the Tisza River, which will connect Ukraine and Romania near the settlements of Bila Tserkva and Sighetu Marmaciei. There was a corresponding decision approved at the Government meeting.

As stated in the message of the Cabinet of Ministers, the creation of the checkpoint “Bila Tserkva – Szigetu Marmatsia” is one of the key projects at the intergovernmental level, enshrined in the Memorandum between Ukraine and Romania.

Currently, with the support of international partners, a feasibility study is being prepared for the construction of a checkpoint, a protective dam, a service area and an access road to the bridge. Meanwhile, the Romanian side has already started construction of the bridge itself.

“It is planned that 400 trucks, 600 cars and 80 buses will be able to cross this checkpoint per day. So, this checkpoint will be the largest in Romania after its opening”, – stressed Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Communities and Territories Development.
