BEB liquidated a conversion center that helped businesses evade taxes

Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine exposed and liquidated the conversion center operating in the Kyiv region. The scheme included more than ten companies that facilitated tax evasion by real sector enterprises.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, it was found that the organizers had registered a number of companies as fictitious persons. These enterprises entered into fictitious construction contracts with clients. Due to this, the customers of services artificially increased the tax credit, which made it possible to reduce the amount of tax liabilities. According to preliminary estimates, over the past two years, such actions have caused losses to the state budget in the amount of about 60 million hryvnias.

During searches of the office premises of the conversion center, law enforcement officers seized both primary and draft accounting documentation, company seals, managers’ clichés, mobile phones, computer equipment, as well as cash: 15.5 million hryvnias, 200 thousand US dollars and almost 22 thousand euros.

The investigation of the criminal proceedings continues under Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “tax evasion (mandatory payments)”. Procedural management is carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

We will remind that on April 9 in Transcarpathia, the Bureau of Economic Security exposed a company that unites three well-known regional chains of grocery stores in a particularly large tax evasion scheme. The investigation revealed that in order to reduce the tax burden, the company used the “business fragmentation” scheme. In particular, the sale of goods in the chain’s stores for a total amount of UAH 288 million was carried out on behalf of more than 50 individual entrepreneurs, most of whom were relatives of the company’s founders or its employees.
