A film about the war in Ukraine won Britain’s highest cinema award

Franz Böhm’s short film “Rock, Paper, Scissors” won the BAFTA Award in the category “Best British Short Film”. The 78th BAFTA Awards took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre. About this reported British Academy of Film and Television.

The tape “Stone, Paper, Scissors” tells the story of 18-year-old Ivan (his role was played by Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi), whose father works as a surgeon. Together, they organize a makeshift hospital at the start of a full-scale war, rescuing wounded soldiers and civilians. However, information about their shelter reaches the Russian occupiers, and Ivan is forced to take up arms to protect himself and the patients.

In addition to Rudynskyi, Serhiy Kalantay, Yuriy Radionov and Oleksandr Yatsenko starred in the film. The films “Marion”, “Milk”, “The Flowers Stand Silently” and “Stomach Bug” also competed for the victory in the nomination.

We will remind you that the documentary about three Ukrainian artists from Kharkiv “The Porcelain War” was chosen as a nominee for the “Oscar” film award.
