A fire in California destroyed the works of famous artists

A wildfire in Los Angeles County, California, destroyed a private art collection that included works by famous American contemporary artists such as Keith Haring, Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol. About this informs The New York Times.

“At this point, there is only dust left here.” — said Ron Rivlin, whose house, along with his artwork, was destroyed in the fire.

The collector lost more than 200 pieces of art, including works by Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, John Baldessari and Kenny Scharf. His house, located in West Hollywood, served as a storage place for the Revolver collection, which was estimated to be worth several million dollars. Rivlin specialized in collecting works by contemporary American artists, creating one of the most significant private collections in this direction.

We will remind that forest fires started in Los Angeles County on January 7. According to meteorologists, their rapid spread was caused by dry weather and strong winds. The total area of fires has already exceeded 16 thousand hectares.
