A large-scale blackout occurred in Georgia

On April 19, a large-scale accident occurred in Georgia, causing a massive power outage — for the second time in a month. About this informs “Exo Caucasus”.
According to the information of the company “State Electric System of Georgia”, the accident occurred on the “Kavkasioni” power transmission line, which led to a blackout in Tbilisi and several regions of the country.
The causes of the accident are currently not disclosed. It is known that energy companies are gradually restoring the operation of the system. Currently, the electricity supply has already been partially restored both in the capital and in some regions. Due to a blackout in Tbilisi, the movement of trains on the first line of the metro was stopped. The power system of unrecognized Abkhazia also remained without electricity.
This is already the second case of a large-scale blackout in Georgia in April — the previous incident occurred on the night of April 9. Then the electricity went out in parts of Tbilisi, Mtskhete, Gori, Batumi, Poti, Borjomi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi and eight other cities.
During a power outage in Tbilisi, near the parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue, a commemoration of those who died during the tragic events of the night of April 8-9, 1989 was held. At that time, the Soviet military brutally dispersed a peaceful demonstration, using poisonous substances, tear gas, armored vehicles, firearms and mine shovels against the protesters. Later, these events were called “the night of sapper shovels”.
