China does not intend to change its position on the war in Ukraine: the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

China has no intention of changing its position on the war in Ukraine and will continue to advance its “peace plan”. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting in St. Petersburg with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu.

Wang Yi emphasized that Beijing will continue to work on promoting its own vision of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war, trying to convince the majority of countries in the world to support its proposal for a political settlement of the conflict.

“China will continue to work on the formation of a balanced, objective and rational point of view in the international community regarding the “Ukrainian crisis” in order to achieve international consensus and create the necessary conditions for a quick cessation of hostilities.”, – said the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to the minister, China takes a neutral and fair position, emphasizing the political solution to the conflict.

Shoigu supported the “six-point consensus” proposed by China and Brazil, welcoming the international community’s positive response to the plan.

This spring, China and Brazil agreed on a six-point plan to settle the war in Ukraine. It includes ending hostilities, increasing humanitarian aid, protecting civilians and exchanging prisoners of war. The plan also emphasizes the importance of preventing the use of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, as well as supporting international cooperation in energy, finance, and trade.

China said its joint “peace plan” with Brazil had received positive feedback from more than 110 countries, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
