In the USA, preparations are being made for a large-scale military parade to mark the 250th anniversary of the army, which coincides with the 79th birthday of President Donald Trump. About this informs AP.
The parade is tentatively scheduled for June 14 in the capital — on the National Avenue in Washington. According to the organizers, they want to attract more than 6,600 military personnel, at least 150 pieces of equipment, 50 helicopters, seven military bands and probably thousands of civilian participants to the event.
Although the celebration is timed for the anniversary of the US military, the idea of holding a large parade has become a new element in the scenario of the celebrations and reflects a long-standing desire of Trump to implement such an event. The exact cost of the parade is not yet known, but it could run into tens of millions of dollars. The cost of transportation of equipment, military, aviation, logistics, accommodation and meals of the participants will be taken into account in the estimate.
A separate concern of the city authorities is the risk of damage to city roads by heavy military equipment. Donald Trump tried to hold a similar parade during his first term, but then the implementation of the idea was postponed due to the high cost.
