A new point for the registration of empty trucks has been launched on the border with Hungary

From December 2, 2024, the registration of empty trucks began at the Luzhanka – Beregshuran checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. About this reported State Customs Service of Ukraine.

This initiative was made possible thanks to an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Hungary, which provides for the passage of trucks weighing up to 7.5 tons and empty large vehicles without weight restrictions.

Within the framework of the same agreement, the implementation of several infrastructure projects is planned. In particular, it is about the creation of a new crossing point “Velika Palady – Nadgodosh” for automobile and passenger traffic (except for buses), the development of cargo infrastructure at the checkpoint “Dzvinkove – Lonya” and the construction of a bridge over the Tisza River to increase the capacity of the checkpoint “Chop – Zahon” .

Also, in 2025, the opening of the “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmaciei” crossing point on the border with Romania is planned, which will be an important step for improving freight communication between the countries. The Hungarian Parliament also passed a decision on the construction of a new checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border and the reconstruction of the Luzhanka checkpoint, in particular for cargo transportation.
