All Ukrainians will receive money for books: how to do it

Do you remember your eSupport cards that you opened to receive a financial incentive for vaccination against the coronavirus? They may be needed already in July, because it has been adopted in Ukraine law, which will allow all citizens to receive 908 hryvnias for the purchase of books.
This initiative is designed, on the one hand, to support Ukrainian publishers who have suffered significantly from the war. Take, for example, the company “Vivat”, whose warehouses and premises burned down in Kharkiv due to shelling carried out by the Russians. On the other hand, the opportunity to purchase several books will motivate Ukrainians to read more. After all, half of the citizens of our country do not read books at all.
How to get funds?
From July 1, “Diya” will have the option of obtaining a certificate for the purchase of books. After receiving it, the eSupport card will receive funds that can be spent in traditional bookstores or for online purchases of literature. In addition to paper and electronic copies, it will be possible to buy an edition for people with visual impairments.
“Already this year, Ukrainians who have turned 18 on January 1, 2024 will receive a certificate in Diya in the amount of UAH 908 for electronic / paper / audio books / for the visually impaired. Yes, the money allocated from the accounts of our youth will go to support Ukrainian As they say, everyone will be happy: young Ukrainians will receive books in the Ukrainian language of their choice, and publishing houses, according to preliminary calculations, will be able to publish an additional 1.5 – 2 million copies for this money.” – says the deputy head of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy Evgenia Kravchuk.
Bonuses for bookstores
Also, after the amendments to the law on subsidies for the reimbursement of rent for the premises of bookstores.
The law establishes a clear procedure for the provision of subsidies, including a list of required documents (now certified copies can be submitted), deadlines for processing applications (10 days) and publication of results (5 days).
All payments are already included in the budget, so no additional expenses from the state treasury are expected.
