Argentina bans gender reassignment surgeries for minors

The government of the President of Argentina, Javier Millay, has announced a ban on hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery for people under the age of 18. About this informs Rtve.
“The government has decided to change the law on gender identity and ban hormone treatment and body modification surgeries for children under 18 years old,” – noted the press secretary of the president, Manuel Adorni.
He also recalled that the relevant law, passed in May 2012, made it possible for people to undergo hormonal treatment and surgeries aimed at correcting their bodies in accordance with their gender identity.
“Such medical interventions in children carry significant risks for their physical and psychological health, as they can disrupt the natural process of maturation of the body. Moreover, in many cases, the consequences of such procedures are irreversible.” – emphasized Adorni.
In addition, the government emphasized in its statement that the radical introduction of gender ideology and its forced application on children – both physically and psychologically – is a form of violence against them.
