At least 200 mental health centers are planned to be opened in Ukraine

In Ukraine, it is planned to create a network of at least 200 mental health centers. They will become a key link in providing highly specialized assistance to people who need support. About this informs Ministry of Health.

“We aim to create a network of mental health centers that will become a key link for people in need of highly specialized assistance. At the basic level of our psychological support system, family doctors and psychologists work in schools, libraries and life-sustainability centers. However, there are situations when the help of specialized specialists is necessary. That is why we are developing mental health centers throughout Ukraine. Currently, 23 of them are working”, – explained Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

According to the Ministry of Health, previously the emphasis was on the implementation of mental health services at the level of primary medical care, in order to make them as accessible as possible to citizens. The next stage is the development of a network of specialized institutions that will provide professional support.

According to the Internal Sustainability Plan presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the centers will be created on the basis of cluster and multidisciplinary hospitals. In such institutions, multidisciplinary teams will work, which will include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists and other specialists.
