The President of Ukraine awarded state decorations to 401 military personnel, including soldiers of the National Guard, border guards, police and rescuers. Of them, 87 heroes received awards posthumously. About this it is said in the relevant Decree No. 797/2024.
Among the awards are the “Cross of Combat Merit”, the orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, Danylo Halytskyi, “For Courage”, as well as the “Defender of the Fatherland”, “For Saved Life”, “For Military Service to Ukraine” and “For Impeccable Service” medals.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky deprived 34 people accused of treason of Ukraine of state awards. Among them are former government officials, deputies, heads of the SBU and prosecutor’s offices, as well as Russian political, cultural and religious figures.
These persons lost state awards indefinitely. Ten of them were subject to the widest range of sanctions, including asset freezes, license cancellations, trade bans and other restrictive measures.
