At talks in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire

During the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine expressed readiness to introduce a 30-day ceasefire regime, provided that Russia would also observe this regime. About this it is said in a joint statement following the meeting of the Ukrainian and US delegations in Jeddah.
“Ukraine has expressed readiness to accept the US proposal for the immediate introduction of a temporary, 30-day cease-fire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, subject to acceptance and simultaneous implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States will inform Russia that reciprocity on the part of Russia is the key to achieving peace.”, the statement says.
The United States is immediately resuming intelligence sharing and security assistance to Ukraine, reversing a previous pause. The delegations also discussed the importance of humanitarian efforts within the peace process, particularly in the context of the planned ceasefire regime. It was about the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of illegally detained civilians and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.
The delegations agreed to form negotiation groups and immediately start negotiations aimed at achieving a sustainable peace that will guarantee the long-term security of Ukraine.
“The United States undertook to discuss these specific proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation once again emphasized that European partners should be involved in the peace process,” – the message says.
