SSU and National Police expose network of enemy agents
Arson and espionage for Russian special services in Zaporizhzhia and Volyn regions

The Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police delayed two people suspected of cooperation with Russian special services and involvement in sabotage and espionage in the Zaporizhia and Volyn regions. The law enforcement officers reported that these persons not only collected data on the location of the Ukrainian military, but also organized arson attacks to destabilize the situation in the rear.
The first perpetrator was detained in Zaporizhzhia. A 31-year-old man, who previously served a six-year sentence for theft, was recruited remotely by the Russian occupiers. After his release from prison, he received instructions to set fire to an official vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was undergoing maintenance after completing combat missions. In addition, he collected and transmitted data on the location of Ukrainian military units in the city, which could become key information for planning new air strikes on Zaporizhzhia.
The attacker was detained during another arson attempt. Immediately after that, the SBU and the National Police conducted operational measures to strengthen security around the defense facilities in the front-line city.
The second detainee, an 18-year-old resident of Volyn, was recruited by the Russian special services through Telegram channels, where “easy earnings” were promised. On the instructions of the curators, he set fire to a relay box on a railway line near the regional center. This damage could disrupt the logistics of military transport, which is critical in wartime conditions.
The detainees have already been charged with a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including sabotage, intentional damage to property, and obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces. Both suspects face life imprisonment with confiscation of property for these crimes.
