Aviation giant Boeing is ending production of the F/A-18 Hornet

Boeing company announced on ending production of the F/A-18 Hornet multirole fighter until 2027 due to a lack of new orders. The company received the last order for 17 F/A-18 aircraft from the US Navy on March 19 of this year for $1.3 billion.
The vice president of the aviation giant Boeing, Mark Sears, said that the plant that produced the F/A-18 will switch to the production of new units. This will be done by slowing production cycles and freeing up resources for other initiatives such as the F-15EX fighter jet, the T-7A trainer and the MQ-25 Stingray unmanned aerial refueling aircraft.
The F/A-18 Hornet will remain in service with the U.S. Navy for a long time and will likely remain the primary aircraft carrier. In the long term, the aircraft must be replaced by either the F-35 or another next-generation aircraft. However, when this happens, it will mark the end of the career of the F/A-18 Hornet, whose first flight took place back in 1978, and its upgraded version, the Super Hornet, has been flying since 1995.
