The cause of the accident of the Azerbaijani passenger plane in December was the impact of a missile from the Russian anti-aircraft system “Pantsir-S”. The authorities of Azerbaijan have a fragment of this missile, informs Reuters agency.
“The Azerbaijani side possesses a fragment of the Pantsir-S missile, which was extracted from the plane and identified with the help of international expertise”, – the message says.
It will be recalled that on December 25, the passenger plane “Embraer” of the airline company “Azerbaijan Airlines”, which was flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan. As a result of the accident, 38 people died.
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, then stated that the plane was fired upon from the ground. He also emphasized that Russia should have recognized its responsibility, timely apologized to Azerbaijan, which considers it a friendly country, and officially communicated this to the public.
