The Investigative Committee of Belarus has declared wanted 125 people who are suspected of involvement in the regiment named after Kastus Kalynovsky, which participates in hostilities on the side of Ukraine. About this stated Head of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Dmytro Hara.
According to him, five commanders of this regiment have already been sentenced in absentia to terms of imprisonment from 12 to 20 years, as they are all outside the country.
“Participants of the riots (we are talking about the 2020 protests after the presidential election in Belarus) who fled abroad and created nationalist armed formations in Ukraine and Poland. They include the Kalynovsky regiment, the Belarusian volunteer corps and others who operate under the supervision of foreign special services.” – emphasized Gara.
The head of the Investigative Committee reported that 77 people have already been convicted under the article on high treason in criminal cases.
We will remind you that the Kastus Kalynovsky regiment is a military formation within the Defense Forces of Ukraine, created in March 2022 to counter the Russian invasion. Its ranks include Belarusian volunteers. In May 2022, the battalion of Belarusian volunteers, which was part of the Armed Forces, was reorganized into a regiment. The new unit included two battalions.
