Jury found Trump guilty on all charges in financial fraud case: details

After a months-long trial, a jury in New York found the former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, guilty of all 34 counts in the case of financial fraud and falsification of documents.

This was reported by the publication The New York Times.

According to the indictment, Trump illegally used campaign funds to suppress the story of former porn actress Stormy Daniels. She claimed to have had an intimate relationship with Trump a decade earlier and threatened to go public with the story.

Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, spent $130,000 from the campaign fund to pay for Stormy Daniels’ silence. These funds were then reimbursed by Trump under the guise of legal fees.

After the verdict was announced, Trump strongly opposed the trial, calling it a “disgrace.” He also noted that “the real verdict will be on November 5”, alluding to the presidential elections.

Judge Juan Mercan set Trump’s sentencing hearing for July 11.  Journalists note that the chosen date almost coincides with the beginning of the National Congress of the Republican Party, scheduled for July 15, where it is expected to choose a candidate from the political party for the position of president.
