Biathlon lesson introduced in secondary schools of Ukraine

The Ukrainian education system continues to implement innovative programs aimed not only at the physical development of young people, but also at their patriotic education. One of the most recent projects, which became an important step in this direction, is the launch of the “Biathlon Lesson” program in secondary schools of the country. This initiative was implemented by the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine, headed by President Ivan Krulk, who announced it with great pride and optimism.
A historic event for Ukrainian education and sports
The launch of biathlon classes in schools is a historic event for Ukraine, as biathlon is not only a sport, but also a complex discipline that develops physical endurance, weapon handling skills and responsibility.
“It is with great joy that I share with you, without exaggeration, the historical news. Biathlon lessons have been launched in secondary schools of Ukraine.
Therefore, today, with great pride, as the president of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine, I handed over the first 5 kits for biathlon classes to schools in the capital. From now on, students of Lyceum No. 227, School of I-III degrees No. 132, Specialized School of I-III degrees with in-depth study of foreign languages No. 220, Specialized School No. 216 and Gymnasium of International Relations No. 323 have everything they need to conduct a biathlon lesson as part of physical education classes cultures Our trainers from the State University School No. 15 conducted the first open class for students,” — wrote Krulko on his page at Facebook.
As Ivan Krulko noted, this is more than just a physical education lesson:
“Biathlon is the culture of handling weapons, it’s physical training, it’s endurance. These are all the qualities that our youth need so that they can defend their Motherland at any moment.
I hope that this national Biathlon Lesson program will give us more than one Olympic champion in the future and will give an impetus to the development of biathlon in the country.
Of course, there is still a lot of work ahead, but the road will be paved by the one who walks, and today we have taken the most important first step.”
The “Biathlon Lesson” program aims not only at the sports development of children, but also at preparing the young generation for future challenges, both physical and moral. This combination of sports and national-patriotic education is designed to form important qualities in students that can help not only in sports, but also in life.
The first kits for biathlon classes in capital schools
At the beginning of October, Ivan Krulko personally handed over the first kits for biathlon classes to five schools in Kyiv, which was the first practical step in implementing the program. These sets were handed over to Lyceum No. 227, School of I-III degrees No. 132, Specialized School No. 220 with in-depth study of foreign languages, Specialized School No. 216 and Gymnasium of International Relations No. 323.
Biathlon classes are held as part of physical education lessons, and the first open class for students was conducted by coaches from Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 15. This allowed children not only to get acquainted with sports equipment, but also to get their first experience in shooting and running, which are key components of biathlon.
Development of the program throughout Ukraine
Ivan Krulko also emphasized that the “Biathlon Lesson” program is not limited to only a few metropolitan schools. It has already begun to expand to other regions. From September 1, 2024, biathlon classes started in 50 schools in different regions of Ukraine. 10 regions, where regional biathlon federations operate, participate in the program.
Krulko emphasized that for the successful implementation of the program, a tender was held and the necessary equipment was purchased. This allows children from different parts of Ukraine to engage in biathlon, which opens up new opportunities for the development of this sport at the national level.
The importance of the program for the future
The President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine expressed his confidence that the new program can give Ukraine more than one future Olympic champion. He noted that although there is still a lot of work ahead, the first step has already been taken, and this is only the beginning of a long road to the development of biathlon in Ukraine.
The Biathlon Lesson program is not only a sports project, but also an important element of patriotic education. According to Krulk, this sport builds in young people not only physical strength and endurance, but also discipline, the ability to work in a team and responsibility – qualities that will help young people in the future to defend their country, if necessary.

Prospects for the development of biathlon in Ukraine
Starting biathlon lessons in schools is only the first step in the development of this sport in Ukraine. Ivan Krulko promised that the program will be extended to all regions of Ukraine where there are regional biathlon federations. It is important that the support of biathlon by the state and sports organizations is becoming more and more systematic, which will allow even more children and young people to be involved in the sport.
It will be recalled that Ivan Krulko was elected president of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine in November 2022 after winning the elections over the leader of the Ukrainian biathlon team, Dmytro Pidruchny. Since his election, Krulko has been actively working on the development of biathlon in Ukraine, and the launch of the “Biathlon Lesson” program has become one of his most important achievements in this position.
The “Biathlon Lesson” program is an innovative initiative that combines sports and national-patriotic education, forming the qualities necessary for life in the young generation. This program not only opens up new opportunities for the development of biathlon in Ukraine, but also prepares young people for future challenges, providing them with the opportunity to defend their Motherland in case of need. Thanks to the efforts of Ivan Krulk and the Biathlon Federation, Ukraine has every chance to become a country where biathlon will be not only a popular, but also an athletically successful sport.
