Biden cancels his visit to Ramstein: the Pentagon does not rule out rescheduling the meeting

The United States of America may revise the date of the Rammstein-style meeting, which was supposed to take place on October 12 in Germany, due to changes in President Joe Biden’s plans. As it became known, Biden will not be able to attend this key meeting aimed at discussing defense support for Ukraine, due to the threat of Hurricane Milton, which is approaching Florida.

According to Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh, Biden’s refusal to visit Ramstein has forced the military command to review possible changes in the schedule.

To the question about the possibility of rescheduling the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine at the level of the leaders of the states, which may be combined with the meeting of NATO defense ministers on October 17-18, Sabrina Singh answered:

“We’re just figuring it out right now. So when there are updates, I’ll be sure to let you know… We’re working on those details. We’ll let you know when we know more.”

On October 8, it became known that President Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will not be able to attend the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, which was supposed to take place for the first time at the level of the leaders of the countries. This decision was made in connection with weather conditions in the USA, in particular due to the threat of Hurricane Milton, which threatens Florida. The White House emphasizes that the issue of security remains a priority, and Biden will remain in the country to resolve crisis situations related to the hurricane.
