Boeing shares fall 8% after plane crash in India

Shares of Boeing fell 8% in US trading on June 12 after an Air India plane with 242 people on board crashed minutes after takeoff from the western Indian city of Ahmedabad. About this informs Reuters.

The plane was on its way to Gatwick Airport in the UK and police said it crashed in a residential area near Ahmedabad Airport. According to aviation monitoring website Flightradar24, the aircraft was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, one of the most modern passenger models currently in service.

The causes of the accident at the time of the event remained unknown. Boeing said in a statement that the company is working to gather more information. The Boeing 787 is a new generation of jet aircraft with a good safety record and no previously reported fatal accidents.

The crash report comes as Boeing tries to rebuild confidence in the safety of its planes and ramp up production under new CEO Kelly Ortberg.

It will be recalled that on June 12, a passenger plane crashed at Ahmedabad airport in India. According to local police, 290 people died as a result of the plane crash. Among the dead were 241 passengers, including 10 crew members, as well as 50 people who were on the ground. 40-year-old Vishvash Kumar Ramesh, a citizen of Great Britain, was the only passenger who survived. He was hospitalized with injuries to his chest, eyes and legs.
