Erdogan promised Fico to help with Russian gas supplies
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, assured the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, of his readiness to facilitate the supply of Russian gas through Turkey. The Turkish leader promised to hold talks with Russia to find a solution that would satisfy Slovakia’s energy needs. About this informs Bloomberg.
At the press conference after the meeting with Fico, Erdogan confirmed Turkey’s readiness to cooperate with Slovakia and Russia to organize gas transit. He noted that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will contact his Russian counterpart, and Erdogan himself plans to hold talks with Vladimir Putin.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico proposed using the Turkish Stream gas pipeline to deliver Russian gas to Slovakia via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. He emphasized that Russia should confirm its readiness to increase the volume of supplies to ensure transit to Slovak territory.
The Economy Minister of Slovakia plans to visit Turkey next week to further discuss this issue.
