BP plans to restrict the use of Telegram in its internal network

The Verkhovna Rada will introduce restrictions on the use of the Telegram messenger in the parliament’s internal network. About this reported people’s deputy from the “Voice” party, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, having published the relevant order of the Council’s apparatus.

These changes are part of the security measures recommended by the National Cyber Security Coordination Center and include several important points:

  • mandatory introduction of two-factor identification and disconnection of contact synchronization;
  • automatic blocking of computers left unattended to prevent access by unauthorized persons;
  • ban on transmission of work data and official communication via Telegram;
  • prohibition to install Telegram on personal devices used for work.

As Yurchyshyn explained, these restrictions will apply exclusively to employees of the Verkhovna Rada and will not affect personal communication. He emphasized that such measures are dictated by the need to increase security, as there have already been cases when through Telegram third parties gained access to confidential information of public officials or created fake channels, as happened with the fake channel of the Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk.
