Law enforcement officers exposed a group that established mass production of fake documents

The law enforcement officers exposed an interregional group engaged in the production and sale of forged documents and stopped its activities. At the same time, searches were conducted in 8 regions of Ukraine, informs press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Criminals produced fake government-style documents using official holographic security features. Among the forgeries were foreign passports, military tickets, identification cards of participants in hostilities, technical passports for cars, medical certificates and even ID cards of law enforcement officers.

The cost of one forged document depended on its complexity and urgency of execution and ranged from 8,000 hryvnias to 2,000 euros. Orders were accepted through social networks, and delivery was made through post machines.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted 34 authorized searches in 8 regions. As a result, they seized fake documents, equipment for their production, physical evidence confirming criminal activity, as well as a significant amount of cash in hryvnias and foreign currency.

Four members of the group were notified of suspicion under Articles 199 (Part 1, Part 2) and 358 (Part 3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the manufacture, purchase, forwarding and sale of forged documents and holographic elements. The prosecutor’s office filed a motion with the court to impose preventive measures on the suspect.
