Britain provides Ukraine with more than 20 million dollars for the implementation of innovative energy projects
Ukraine is taking decisive steps towards energy independence from Russia, having received significant investments from Great Britain. As part of the InnovateUkraine programme, the British government has allocated £16 million (US$20.15 million) to support 13 innovative projects in the Ukrainian energy sector.
This became known after the meeting of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko with the head of the Foreign Ministry of Great Britain, David Cameron. According to Galushchenko, these funds will allow to start the implementation of the first 13 best projects selected at the competitive selection.
These projects cover a wide range of areas, focusing on:
- Energy efficiency: implementation of technologies and solutions that allow to reduce energy consumption.
- Heat supply: modernization of heating systems to increase their economy and environmental friendliness.
- Accumulator batteries for renewable energy sources: ensuring reliable energy storage,
- produced from solar and wind power plants.
- Technologies for increasing biogas production: using organic waste to generate clean energy.
“These are various projects designed to ensure a green energy transition in Ukraine. Over the next two years, they will receive support in finding investments and entering the market“, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine emphasized.
During the meeting, David Cameron emphasized that green technologies and energy will be the key to Ukraine’s energy independence from Russian energy resources.
Galushchenko also thanked Britain for the significant contribution to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, which amounts to 27.5 million euros. According to him, negotiations are ongoing on a possible increase of this amount during the current year.
