Brazil handed over data from the crashed plane to Kazakhstan

Brazilian investigators have completed the extraction of data from two black boxes of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan on December 25, and handed them over to the Kazakh authorities. About this informs DW.

“All data were transferred to the investigative body of Kazakhstan … in accordance with international protocols for the investigation of air crashes”, – said the statement of the Brazilian Air Force, which managed the data extraction process through the Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Events.

Investigators from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia arrived in Brazil to participate in the investigation. The Azerbaijani side says that the Brazilian-made Embraer-190 was shot down by a Russian anti-aircraft missile, which the Kremlin says was used to combat Ukrainian drones in the region.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during a meeting with the families of the dead crew members and the injured flight attendants, noted that the responsibility for the tragedy lies with the representatives of the Russian Federation and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

It will be recalled that an AZAL airliner flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the Aktau airport after the control systems failed. The crew made an emergency landing, during which the front part of the plane was destroyed. There were 67 people on board, 38 of whom died.
