Budanov received one of Poland’s highest awards from Duda

“For an outstanding contribution to the development of international cooperation and interaction that connects the Republic of Poland with other states and peoples, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda awarded the head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyryl Budanov, with one of the highest awards of the Republic of Poland for foreigners – the Golden Officer’s Cross of the Order “For Merit to Poland”, the message says.
In addition, the President of Poland awarded the Deputy Head of the GUR, Vadym Skibicki, with the Knight’s Cross of the same order. Andrzej Duda emphasized the importance of partnership with Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and noted the important role of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military intelligence in strengthening collective security on the continent. The presentation of the awards was entrusted to Colonel Dominik Duda, deputy head of the Polish Intelligence Agency.
The Order “For Merit to Poland” is one of the most prestigious awards in the country. It is awarded to foreigners who have made a significant contribution to the development of international cooperation and strengthening of relations with the Polish state. Previous Knights of the Order include the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
