Cabinet of Ministers approves memorandum on strengthening defence cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine officially approved the Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Turkey aimed at mutual recognition of state guarantees of the quality of defense products. About this reported in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In particular, it is known that the document will significantly strengthen the potential of the defense industry of both states.

This agreement aims to integrate defense product quality assurance systems and the implementation of NATO standards (AQAP) into the processes of development and procurement of military equipment. The memorandum was a continuation of cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the field of military-technical cooperation, which has been actively developing since 2020.

Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov emphasized the importance of this agreement for the harmonization of defense products between the two countries and bringing Ukraine closer to NATO standards. According to him, the implementation of uniform procedures and standards of the Alliance in military-industrial cooperation will allow both countries to work according to the same quality standards.

Key elements of the memorandum include risk analysis, state quality assurance planning, monitoring of manufacturing processes, and monitoring compliance with contract terms that contain AQAP requirements. Special attention is paid to the protection of intellectual property and confidential information, which is an important aspect in the field of defense technologies.

The memorandum is designed for five years with the possibility of automatic extension, which will ensure long-term cooperation and development of joint defense projects between Ukraine and Turkey.
