China handed over weapons to the Russian Federation for the first time for the war with Ukraine: the EU reacted

For the first time, Beijing supplied the Russian Federation with weapons for the war against Ukraine, in response to which the European Union is considering the possibility of introducing sanctions against China. About this informs Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to the publication, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, provided the European states with intelligence information that indicates “lethal aid” to Russia from the People’s Republic of China. One of the high-ranking EU officials assessed these data as “convincing”. The official noted that they confirm the transfer of weapons.
“We need to consider all possible steps“, the diplomat said, adding that the discussion of sanctions is still at an initial stage.
The EU first plans to discuss the situation with China directly, and further actions will depend on Beijing’s reaction to the accusations. The details of the intelligence officers are not disclosed, but it is known that their assessment is based on “very serious” data previously published by the Reuters agency.
At the end of September, it became known that the Russian company Kupol, a division of Almaz-Antey, developed a long-range combat drone in cooperation with China. The tests were conducted with the participation of Chinese specialists, and serial production is planned at Chinese enterprises. Previously, at the BRICS summit, Russia failed to get international support for the creation of an alternative security system. Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution of the conflict and suggested creating a Group of Friends of Peace to promote the peace process between Russia and Ukraine.
