China has confirmed its intention to seek reunification with Taiwan

China has confirmed its intention to reunify with Taiwan, saying it opposes any separatism. Premier Li Qiang stressed that Beijing will resolutely oppose foreign interference, informs People’s Daily.

At the opening of the annual session of the National People’s Congress, Li Qiang said that Beijing will continue the course of “restoring unity” with Taiwan, adhering to the “one China” principle and the 1992 Consensus.

“We strongly oppose any separatist actions aimed at the independence of Taiwan, as well as external interference”, he emphasized.

According to him, China is committed to the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait, the expansion of economic and cultural cooperation, and the improvement of the welfare of the people on both sides. The Chinese premier also said that Beijing will “resolutely advance the cause of reunification” and work together with the people of Taiwan for the “great revival of the Chinese nation.”

“We will advance the cause of Chinese reunification and work with our Chinese compatriots in Taiwan to realize the glorious cause of reviving the Chinese nation.”, Li Qiang noted.

Recall that China considers Taiwan as part of its territory, but the island rejects Beijing’s claims, insisting that only its people have the right to determine their future, and China must respect the Taiwanese people’s choice.
