China in the spotlight of the UN: a new call for talks between Russia and Ukraine

The Chinese delegation at the UN again called for the immediate start of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. During the meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday, the Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN Geng Shuang emphasized that both sides continue to rely on force methods in their pursuit of victory, reports Ukrinform.

We urge the parties to the conflict to show political determination, start the negotiation process as soon as possible, reach a compromise, stop hostilities and agree on a ceasefire“, the Chinese diplomat said.

He also emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts to organize a dialogue.

“China consistently advocates the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, adhere to the current provisions and principles of the UN Charter, take into account the legitimate security concerns of each country, and support any initiatives aimed at the peaceful resolution of conflicts.”, – noted the representative of China.

At the same time, he noted that “the parties to the conflict have not yet given up their desire to achieve victory through the use of force and continue large-scale attacks against each other.”
