12 police officers injured during pro-Palestinian rallies in Berlin

In Berlin, 12 police officers were injured and nearly 60 people were arrested during pro-Palestinian demonstrations this weekend. About this informs German publication BILD, citing police data. In total, 57 people were temporarily arrested, of which 25 received criminal charges, and 34 received administrative charges for minor hooliganism.

About 520 police officers were involved in maintaining law and order, as up to a thousand people participated in the actions. Some demonstrators attacked law enforcement officers, resisted and insulted the interpreter provided by the police. In addition, some of the demonstrators wore masks and shouted slogans that had a criminal character.

On the same day, US President Joe Biden visited Berlin and met with European leaders to discuss the situation with the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. After landing in Germany, Biden commented on the situation with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, congratulating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. The US president emphasized that it was a “good day for the world” and stressed the need to end the war and return home the hostages held in Gaza.
