Control over chemical enterprises has been tightened in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a new procedure for fixing state supervision and control in the field of chemical safety and management of chemical products. About this reported Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

The new rules are developed on the basis of the provisions of the European integration law “On ensuring chemical safety and management of chemical products”, which was adopted in December 2022. They provide inspectors of the State Environmental Inspection with the opportunity to carry out inspections of chemical industry enterprises using modern recording technologies, such as video recorders, cameras, drones and other devices. This will allow documenting all stages of inspections, from the process to detected violations and their consequences.

First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Olena Kramarenko emphasized the importance of this innovation to ensure transparency and openness of interaction between the state and business in the field of chemical safety. According to her, this is an important step to increase trust in inspection processes, as photo and video recording minimizes the risks of abuse and distortion of facts, as well as eliminates potential corruption factors.

According to the new rules, the collected photo and video materials will be stored for 120 days, and in the case of their use in administrative or criminal cases, until the completion of the relevant proceedings. This innovation will contribute to the improvement of chemical safety standards in Ukraine as part of its integration into the European Union.
