The court halved the amount of bail for the former deputy head of the State Intelligence Service

The higher anti-corruption court decided to reduce the amount of bail for the former deputy head of the State Special Service Viktor Zhora from 10 million hryvnias to 5.45 million hryvnias. This decision was recorded in texts court rulings.

“Reduce the amount of bail for the suspect, established by the decision of the investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court dated November 27, 2023, from 10,000,584 hryvnias to 5,450,400 hryvnias, which is 1,800 amounts of the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons.” – the message says.

This decision became an important step in the case where Viktor Zhora is suspected of embezzling 62 million hryvnias. In November 2023, a deposit of 10 million hryvnias was made for him.

Earlier, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine informed Viktor Zhora, ex-head of the State Intelligence Service, and other officials of the suspicion of embezzling over 62 million hryvnias.

In addition, on November 23, the court decided to take into custody the former head of the State Special Intelligence Service, Yury Shchygol, with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 25 million hryvnias. The next day it became known that the deposit for Goldfinch was made.

This decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court is part of the ongoing investigation into abuses at the State Intelligence Service, which became one of the high-profile anti-corruption investigations in 2023.
