Damage from the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant reached $14 billion

The material damage caused by the Russian troops’ detonation of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station reached about 14 billion dollars. About this stated Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk.

According to her, the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam and the loss of a significant amount of water resources caused enormous damage to Ukraine.

“If we talk about the material side of these damages, then almost $14 billion in damages caused by the destruction of the Kakhovskaya Dam and the loss of these water resources have been calculated.” – emphasized Grynchuk.

The event had catastrophic consequences not only for the environment, but also for the infrastructure, agriculture and economy of the country as a whole. The destroyed hydroelectric power plant was an important source of water supply and energy supply for the southern regions of Ukraine, and its destruction endangered the lives and health of hundreds of thousands of people.

In this regard, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies reported the suspicion to the Russian general Oleg Makarevych, who gave the order to blow up the Kakhovskaya HPP. On the anniversary of the tragedy, the company “Ukrhydroenergo” announced the preparation of a lawsuit to the International Court of Arbitration in order to obtain compensation for the damages.
