December 17: holidays and events on this day

December 17 is celebrated in Ukraine as the Day of the State Executive Service Employee, and in the world it is the Day of the Wright Brothers.
December 17 unites different eras, cultures and spheres of activity – from technological breakthroughs to important political decisions. This day reminds of the key moments that determined the development of humanity, its science, culture and aspirations to new horizons.
Day of the employee of the state executive service
This day is a professional holiday of all specialists who ensure the execution of court decisions and legal acts in Ukraine. This holiday became an important recognition of their contribution to the support of legality, justice and observance of the rights of citizens and the state.
The holiday was introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in 2009, which emphasized the importance of the activities of the State Executive Service in ensuring the execution of court decisions and became a response to the initiatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and representatives of the public. Until July 22, 2009, there was no separate professional day in Ukraine to honor employees of the State Executive Service. The creation of this holiday was an important step in recognizing their key role in the functioning of the justice system and the establishment of legality in the state.
The state executive service is one of the key links of the country’s legal system. It is thanks to the work of these specialists that court decisions become real. Their work is often associated with difficulties, misunderstandings and even conflicts, because the implementation of decisions is not always a simple task. However, it is they who help to restore justice, repay debts, ensure compliance with legal norms and guarantee compliance with the rights of all participants in legal relations.
An interesting fact: the state executive service of Ukraine has come a long way, and since 2016, the institute of private executors has been introduced in Ukraine, which was an important step in reforming the system of execution of decisions. This approach made it possible to increase efficiency and efficiency in work, as well as to create a competitive environment in the field of execution of court decisions.
Celebrating the Day of the State Executive Service Employee is an opportunity not only to congratulate professionals in their field, but also to emphasize their important mission for society. Without their work, it is impossible to imagine the effective functioning of the judicial system and law and order. These are people who prove their professionalism, stability and dedication to their work every day, working in difficult conditions and ensuring legality in our state.
Wright Brothers Day
This day is an important date in the history of aviation, it was on this day in 1903 that brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright made the world’s first successful flight in a heavier-than-air powered aircraft. This event ushered in a new era of transportation and changed the world forever.
The first flight took place near the town of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA. The Wright brothers’ plane, known as “Flyer I”, stayed in the air for only 12 seconds and flew 37 meters. Despite the short distance, it was a huge breakthrough in technology. During the same day, the brothers made three more flights, each of which lasted longer and covered greater distances. Orville’s longest flight lasted 59 seconds and was about 260 meters.
Interestingly, many engineers and inventors had tried to create flying cars up to this point, but it was the Wright brothers who were able to implement this idea thanks to an innovative approach. They not only developed the first working airplane, but also used a unique control system that allowed to control the flight in three planes – height, inclination and direction.
The Wright brothers were not only inventors, but also true enthusiasts. They originally repaired bicycles and used this experience to develop their airplane. Their path to success was not easy – many did not believe in the possibility of creating an airplane, but thanks to perseverance and engineering genius, they managed to realize the dream of mankind to fly.
Wright Brothers Day was officially declared a holiday in the USA in 1963. This day honors the memory of Orville and Wilbur Wright and their contributions to science, technology and world history. The holiday emphasizes the importance of innovation and invention, inspiring future generations to new discoveries.
