Dmytro Kuleba responded to Zaluzhnyi’s statement about World War III

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview for Politico, published on November 27, voiced his vision of the biggest mistake of the West in the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine.

Kuleba disagreed with the statement of the former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who said last week that the third world war has already begun. According to Kuleba, the West is not yet ready for a real military confrontation.

“If you ask me what was the biggest mistake of the West in the last year, I would say the frantic public condemnation by European leaders of Emmanuel Macron’s proposal to send troops to Ukraine. I have no doubt that Putin liked it.”, he noted.

He expressed concern over the West’s lack of understanding of the significance and consequences of this war. According to Kuleba, victory is impossible if Russia has clearly defined its strategic goal, Ukraine knows what it is fighting for, but the West, without whose support Ukraine cannot win, still does not have a clear idea of its own role in this conflict.

Kuleba noted that this lack of strategic certainty on the part of the West weakens joint efforts to counter the aggressor. He called on Ukraine’s international partners not only to increase military and financial support, but also to develop a clear strategy that would define their role in ensuring global security and justice.
