Donald Trump announced his candidate for the post of director of the FBI – an ardent critic of this department

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he plans to appoint Kesh Patel, his close associate, who was distinguished by a number of controversial statements and actions during his first term, as the director of the FBI. He wrote about this in his social network Truth Social.

Kesh Patel, a lawyer with a background in national security, has previously spoken out in favor of large-scale personnel purges at the Justice Department and the FBI. He also advocated removing access to state secrets from individuals involved in the investigation into Trump’s possible ties to Russia during the 2016 election. Patel has regularly supported conspiracy theories, including accusing the so-called “deep state” of trying to thwart Trump’s presidency.

“Cash is an outstanding lawyer, investigator and supporter of the principle of “America above all else”. He has dedicated his career to fighting corruption, protecting justice and the American people. His merits in exposing the falsifications surrounding the “Russian collusion” are indisputable.” – said Trump in his post on social networks.

Trump said that under Patel’s leadership, the FBI will put an end to “the crime epidemic in America, destroy migrant criminal gangs and stop the dangerous phenomenon of human and drug trafficking across the border.”

Trump also announced his intention to fire current FBI Director Christopher Wray, whom he appointed in 2017. Although Wray was to serve until 2027, Trump emphasized the need to renew the leadership of the Bureau.

Kesh Patel began his career as a public defender and later became a national security prosecutor at the Department of Justice during the Obama administration. In the political sphere, he worked on the staff of Congressman Devin Nunes, where he was an adviser on the House Intelligence Committee. It was there that Patel actively contributed to efforts to discredit Democratic investigations into Trump’s ties to Russia.

As reported AP, Kash Patel, 44, is a former Justice Department prosecutor who has become a vocal critic of the department. In his book, he promised to reform the Justice Department and the FBI, conducting a sweeping purge and firing executives. He also announced his intention to declassify a significant number of government documents and deny access to classified information to those who were involved in investigations into Trump.

If approved, Patel will work closely with Pam Bondi, whom Trump plans to nominate as attorney general. Bondi previously represented Trump’s team during impeachment proceedings.
