Draft law on the reform of the Medicines Inspection Service to be registered in the Verkhovna Rada by 1 November: Radutskyi

The draft law on reforming medical and social expert commissions (MSEK) must be registered in the Verkhovna Rada by November 1. This was announced by Mykhailo Radutskyi, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, on the air of the telethon. He expressed confidence that the document will pass the first and second readings without delay, as it has already undergone a public discussion that lasted more than a month.
Radutsky emphasized that the project of reforming the MSEK, developed by the government on behalf of the National Security Council, will be an important step in the fight against corruption in this area. After the recent scandal with MSEK officials exposed for illegal enrichment, the government initiative has significant support from society and parliament.
On October 10, the Ministry of Health presented the draft law at a meeting with public organizations and experts, discussing systemic changes aimed at digitizing all stages of medical and social examination. One of the decisions made at the NSDC meeting was the introduction of control over the process of passing the MSEK, as well as checking the financial declarations of officials.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the liquidation of MSEK by the end of 2024, and from January 1, 2025, the system will switch to a new approach to expert evaluations. Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko said that by the end of this week, the Cabinet of Ministers will adopt an order on the liquidation of the central MSEK.
