NBU set a record for selling currency from reserves: details

In May, the National Bank of Ukraine sold a record amount of foreign currency – $3.1 billion, which may have a negative impact on foreign currency reserves.

“Given that there was almost no foreign aid (only $20 million), we expect a significant decrease in reserves. But there is no betrayal here. This is all temporary – and we have accumulated reserves in past periods“, he wrote on social networks.
Only in the last week of May, the NBU sold $1,091.10 million at the interbank, which became a record figure since the beginning of the year. In total, since the beginning of the year, the net sale of currency by the National Bank reached $11.18 billion.
