Duda called on Trump to deploy nuclear warheads on Polish territory

Polish President Andrzej Duda called on US President Donald Trump to deploy nuclear weapons on Polish territory as a means of deterring possible future aggression from Russia. About this informs Financial Times.

Duda noted that “obviously” President Donald Trump could redeploy American nuclear warheads, which are currently located in Western Europe or the United States, to Poland. According to the Polish leader, he recently discussed this issue with Keith Kellogg, the US special envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

“NATO’s borders moved to the east in 1999, so after 26 years, NATO’s infrastructure must also move to the east. It is obvious to me.” Duda emphasized.

He added that this is not only a matter of time, but also of security:

“It would be safer if these weapons were already here.”

Duda expressed his hope to revive the joint nuclear weapons project, which he unsuccessfully proposed to the Joe Biden administration in 2022. At the same time, he emphasized that the decision to deploy nuclear weapons rests with Trump, but he recalled Vladimir Putin’s decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

“Russia didn’t even hesitate when they moved their nuclear weapons to Belarus. They didn’t ask anyone for permission.” Duda noted.
