Environmental damage in the Kherson region as a result of the war exceeded 225 billion hryvnias

As of February 2025, the damage to the natural reserve fund of the Kherson region caused by hostilities exceeded 225 billion hryvnias. This information made public Nizhnyodniprovskyi National Nature Park in its post on Facebook.

The message emphasizes that armed actions in the region cause the destruction of natural ecosystems, the mass death of plants and animals, and the destruction of protected areas, which are vital for the preservation of biodiversity. In general, environmental damage caused to the environment of Ukraine as a result of the war exceeds 70 billion dollars.

The most significant losses are observed in the following areas:

  • Land Resources: Over $27.9 billion.
  • Atmospheric Air: Over $17.7 billion.
  • Forestry: almost $26 billion in losses.

These data testify to the large-scale and long-lasting environmental consequences of the war, which require the implementation of comprehensive recovery measures and international support.
