Every defender of Ukraine will receive improved nutrition in medical institutions of any form of ownership: Serhii Melnyk

Ministry of Defense of Ukraine implemented new food standards for servicemen undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions. Thanks to the Resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, the mechanism for providing the military with improved nutrition in health care facilities of all forms of ownership, even in civilian hospitals, has been improved.
The resolution allows organizing food for military personnel according to NATO standards. According to the new regulations, the diet of military personnel includes the optimal amount of proteins, vitamins and calories to support the body during recovery from injuries or illnesses. In accordance with these standards, civilian hospitals will be provided with a specially designed ration that specifies the list of products, their weight and quantity per day for one serviceman.
“Every defender who risks his life deserves the best conditions for recovery. This is our response to their dedication and courage“, said the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General Serhiy Melnyk.
The cost of food is calculated on the basis of a special Product Catalog approved by the Ministry of Defense, which contains current prices, taking into account the costs of one bed-day in medical facilities. The Cabinet also provided for a compensation mechanism for civilian medical institutions, which guarantees high standards of service to military personnel during treatment.
The new financing mechanism, in particular, provides for the conclusion of a model contract that will ensure transparency of compensation payments for improved nutrition.
