Even the fact that the state compensates agricultural producers for 80% of the funds spent on demining agricultural land will not help demining the fields. Most farmers who have recently finished planting do not have enough funds to pay even 20% of the demining cost.
Representatives of the industry discussed the issue of clearing fields from explosive objects during the Agro Ukraine Summit.
“If we take demining by machine, the average cost is 5,500 USD per hectare. This is an unaffordable amount for an agriculturist. Therefore, the only way we see is the involvement of donors or compensation of 100% of the cost of demining. It is also necessary in the state program to provide for the condition of receiving compensation for demining for companies that have their own service for humanitarian demining and independently demine their lands”. – noted Andrii Volik, director of shipping safety, regime-secret work and demining of the “NIBULON” company.
Agrarians are also concerned about the issue of employee reservation. Representatives of the industry emphasize that due to mobilization, agricultural production suffers losses. In particular, those who were engaged in demining fields are being mobilized. For example, just last month, 20% of sappers of the humanitarian demining service of the “NIBULON” company were taken to the army.
