For the first time in 40 years, the overhaul of the Obolon overpass has been completed in Kyiv

In the capital, the capital repair of the overpass in the Obolonskyi district — at the intersection of Lugovaya and Bogatyrska Streets — has been completed. The building was built back in 1986, and since then it has never been thoroughly renovated. About this reported city mayor Vitaly Klitschko.

Repair works started in July last year. During this period, the road workers replaced the beams of the span structures, installed a new bridge deck, retaining walls and strengthened the supports of the structure.

In addition, the storm sewer system was modernized, the wash basin and barrier fence were updated. LED lighting with decorative lighting was also installed and sidewalks with bike lanes were installed. According to the mayor, all works were carried out in compliance with the principles of barrier-free accessibility.

“Currently, the overpass is fully operational. The resource of the structure has been extended for at least 30 years. Road workers are completing the improvement of the area nearby.” Klitschko noted.

The repair was carried out by the company “Ukrtransmist”, the cost of the contract was about UAH 285 million. The founder of Ukrtransmist LLC is Iryna Karnakova, the director is Iryna Filyaeva. Previously, this company had already carried out overhauls of other overpasses in the area of the intersection of Bogatyrska with Stepan Bandera and Obolonsky avenues.

In general, the authorities of Kyiv planned to allocate UAH 1.3 billion to renew the infrastructure of Bogatyrska Street, the main transport artery in the northern part of the city, which leads from the Pochayna metro station to the exit in the direction of Vyshhorod, New and Stary Petrivtsi, as well as Lyutezh, where the house of the capital’s mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, is located.
